We are so glad that you are considering admission to Ambleside Ashland for your child. After you have explored our website, visited the school, and asked any questions of our admissions staff, we warmly welcome you to apply.
Admissions Process
STEP ONE: School tour and Meeting
Contact the Ambleside Office (715-209-4693) to schedule a school tour and a meeting with our Principal. This typically takes at least 2 hours, as parents/guardians will see a handful of classes and then debrief with the Principal. Following this meeting, you will receive an application form and required reading.
STEP TWO: Fill Out an Application Form
An application must be completed for each student and signed by the student’s parents/guardian. Students seeking admission into grades 5 to 12 must fill out and sign the Student Questionnaire (enclosed). Return completed application forms to the Ambleside School of Ashland office at 400 Salem Drive, Ashland, WI 54806.
STEP THREE: Applicant Student Assessment
After the application has been received, an appointment for each student will be scheduled to assess student readiness. A $50.00 assessment fee per student is due at the time of assessment.
STEP FOUR: Required Reading
Parents/guardians must read the following: All Grades:
- For the Children’s Sake, by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay or When Children Love to Learn, edited by Elaine Cooper
- Ambleside Foundational Documents, including Mission, Fundamental Pedagogical Convictions, Statement of Faith, and Code of Personal Conduct.
Additional reading for High School applicants only:
- Escaping the Endless Adolescence by Allen & Allen, required reading for parents only
STEP FIVE: Academic Records and Reference Report
Your child’s standardized test results (applying for Grades 2 and above) and report cards for the past two years.
A Student Recommendation Form, completed by your child’s current teacher, or an adult who has worked with your child over a period of time in a group situation (5th grade and above).
STEP SIX: Parent Interview
Following the student assessment you will be contacted to schedule a parent interview, during which time we will discuss the required reading, provide feedback on the student assessment, and answer any remaining questions. We ask that both parents (or legal guardians) participate in the interview.
*If completing an application toward 8th grade and above, additional requirements include student essay questions and a student meeting with the principal during the parent interview.
DECISION AND ENROLLMENT
Following completion of the above, letters of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent out. Qualified applicants will be considered based on space availability and optimal classroom mix. If a particular class fills, accepted students may be placed in a Wait Pool and parents will be informed.
If accepted, secure your child’s space by returning the signed enrollment agreement, which will accompany your acceptance letter, along with the $400 non-refundable enrollment deposit per student, which will be applied to tuition for the upcoming year.
